today i came into with a nice surpise that we had a poet who came to talk to us! this made me really excited. :] he also had a guitar with him, which was even cooler. anyways! the poet you see to the left his name is tony curtis and he is from ireland. it took me a few mintues to get ahold of his strong accent but once i did, i understood him fully. i thought he was hilarous, he shared lots of funny stories that made the whole class laugh out loud. then he sang some of his poems with his guitar, and he was a really good singer too. one of his favorite american poets would be robert frost, he talked a lot about one of his poems. and talked about where he wrote his first american poem, in a cafe in burlington, and poked fun at some of our american customs. he also had some of us go up and read some poems, i did. it was fun. also, i guess they don't have humming birds in ireland, and the first time he saw one i guess he thought it was a VERY large bee! LOL. it was a great time. i would of liked to listen all day. anyways, GUESS WHAT TOMORROW IS? the skagit river poetry festival!! and guess what that means? my wish is going to come true! all day tomorrow i get to listen to all different kinds of poets reading and talking about their poems. it will be SO much fun. also one of my favorite authors is going to be there and he is also a poet, and stand-up comic. his name is sherman alexie and he wrote a really funny book called the absolutely true diary of a part-time indian. but yeah, tomorrow should be awesome, i hope so! ill tell you how it goes. talk to you later, lindz.
